When I set out to test this new round of multimedia software in 2012 I was hoping to find a few features that were not currently present in today's offerings and I was looking for improvements in features that were lacking. The first offering I looked at was Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate for Mac.

The best way to describe this software in one sentence is: A complete solution for working with Video and Audio for your Mac. With that said this software supports DVD Burning, Video Converting, Audio Converting, DVD Creating, Video Editing, Audio Editing, Downloading Online Videos. I'll mention why you want to use these features in more detail below.
The most common questions I get about this software is: Can this software take my existing video and make a DVD that I can play on my home DVD player? The answer is Yes and it does it wonderfully.
I have been testing, tweaking, and using various DVD burners for Mac over the years and most do a good job. What sets this DVD burner apart from the others is the included video conversion tool. With this not only can you burn your videos to DVD but now you can have that video converted into a DVD format which you can then take to your DVD player and have a compatible DVD to watch on your TV. This is one feature that I am really impressed with simply because of the ease of which this is done. It literally takes 3 mouse clicks to get this process going. You can also create a DVD image and burn it to a blank DVD disc, DVD Folder, a .dvdmedia file or an ISO file. So for me the DVD burning aspect of Video Converter Ultimate for Mac = Win!

Another feature that I found really useful is the ease of which you can convert any video you have into MP4 or any other video format of your choice. Why is this useful? Because you can now put those downloaded movies onto your iPod, iPhone, or other gadget that you take with you. :) Really any video is supported. The intuitive video output selector gives you a list of supported devices which you can convert video to, thus ensuring that you are getting the correct video file format and crop size to fit your screen perfectly. I know you probably don't have a gadget other than an iPod, iPhone, or iPad but the software also supports Android devices, HD Video, 3D video and more. In addition to converting videos you also have the ability to edit your videos by Trimming, Cropping, any Video Adjustments, and even add a Watermark. The preview windows will allow you to see what you are changing to make sure what you want is what will be in the final production. The batch conversion is a nice touch to do multiple video projects automatically.
Now this is what sets this software apart from the others. The built in video download tool which is easy to use because the software will automatically detect any online video that is being played, then if you want to capture the said video then all it takes is a simple button click to save the video to your hard drive which you can then edit, convert, or burn to a DVD.

A complete solution for any audio or video project you need to accomplish.
Excellent video conversion speed on my iMac. I was able to convert 1 hour of video footage in about 10 minutes.
Does not support Blu-Ray, heck neither does Apple.
Does not backup data to a DVD. So no burning discs of your digital photos as a backup, unless you want to make a video slideshow of them. This is strictly for multi-media formats.
